「デザインにおけるサステナビリティーとは何か。」世代を超えて長年にわたり愛され続けているデザインを数多く世に送り出しているフィンランドのデザインブランド、アルテック(1935-)とマリメッコ（1951-）が、本物の（正直な）デザインの過去・現在・未来を魅せる展覧会「Be Honest!」を開催します。
20世紀を代表するフィンランドの建築家アルヴァ・アアルトのデザインによるアルテック「Stool 60」は、世界中で愛用され今年で75周年を迎えました。その革新的でありながらシンプルなデザインは、機能主義ファニチャーの原点とされています。
本展では、このStool 60を用いたダイナミックなトリビュート・インスタレーションを、好評を博したミラノ、ニューヨークに続き、スパイラルガーデンに新構成で展開。加えて、坂茂、トム・ディクソン、グルーヴィジョンズ、アルヴァ・グリクセン、ハッリ・コスキネン、真喜志奈美、皆川 明、モノクル、中村哲也、武松幸治、カティヤ・トゥキアイネンといった国内外で活躍するクリエイターが、新たなインスピレーションをもとに制作したオリジナルバージョンのStool 60も展示します。
マリメッコからは、クラシックから新作まで、本展のためにセレクトしたファブリックデザインを展示。ヴオッコ・エスコリン- ヌルメスニエミ、エルヤ・ヒルヴィ、マイヤ・イソラ、クリスティーナ・イソラ、ハッリ・コスキネン、マイヤ・ロウエカリ、ミーナ・アッキジルッカらの作品がスパイラルガーデンの空間に広がり、グッドデザインや時代を超えたタイムレス性の実証といったマリメッコのコンセプトを表現します。世界的に有名な1950-60年代のクラシックデザインが今でも注目されるのと同様、最新のマリメッコデザインもまた50年後でも変わらぬ魅力をもつように創られています。著名作家であれ才能あふれる若手であれ、マリメッコのデザイナーたちはいつの時代も最高レベルでありつづけています。
本展で、次世代につながる「本物の」サステナブルデザインをぜひご体感ください。なお、期間中スパイラルカフェは「アルテックホワイト」ファニチャーと牛のモチーフが印象的なマリメッコデザインで構成された「Milkbar」に変貌し、期間限定メニューも登場しました。

What is sustainability in design? For Artek and Marimekko, it is a combination of high quality, longevity and strong ideology of true design. The exhibition Be Honest! discusses sustainability and authenticity in design through showcasing items of timeless design and superior quality.
This year Artek celebrates the 75th anniversary of Stool 60. Designed by the architect Alvar Aalto in 1933, this innovative yet simple stool is considered the archetype of functional furniture. To pay tribute to this true design icon, a dynamic installation of Artek stools, which gained much attention in Milan and New York, will be created in a new form at Spiral Garden. For this celebration, the following international creators have been invited to get inspired and make their own version of the Aalto stool: designers Akira Minagawa from mina perhonen, Jun Okazaki from GROOVISIONS, Harri Koskinen from Friends of Industry, Tom Dixon from Artek Studio; architects Yukiharu Takematsu from E.P.A. and Shigeru Ban; artists Tetsuya Nakamura, Alvar Gullichsen and Katja Tukiainen and Tyler Brulé from Monocle Magazine.
The Marimekko designs exhibited in Spiral Garden represent a mix of classic and new prints, created by Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi, Erja Hirvi, Maija Isola, Kristina Isola, Harri Koskinen, Maija Louekari, and Miina Äkkijyrkkä. This mixture of designs reflects Marimekko's concept of good design, exemplifying longevity and timelessness. The world-renowned classics from the 1950s and 1960s are as topical today as they were when they were created, and the contemporary Marimekko designs are expected to be as enthralling fifty years from now as they are today. Whether distinguished masters or promising fresh talents, Marimekko's designers have always been among the best in their field.
We welcome you to experience the feel of true sustainable design. Spiral Cafe will be turned into a Milkbar for the duration of the exhibition with Artek White furniture and Marimekko's captivating cow designs.
