MAKITA SHOTEN is a long-established factory, the only in the world to producing every parts of an umbrella from textile manufacturing to parts assembly. Using beautiful threads dyed with Mt. Fuji spring water, each umbrella is handmade made by skilled craftsmen.
MAKITA SHOTEN has long been observing the changing society and have proposed untimely umbrellas. The new series "YARN", was born of the careful collect of yarns that could not be woven, with the aim to make good use of them someday. The dead stock of the factory, accumulated over the years, have given birth to a textile that is a pleasure to touch and to a series of special umbrellas designed, in limited quantity, in correspondance with the characteristics of their material.
