Launched in 2000, Spiral Independent Creators Festival (SICF) is an open-call art festival that aspires to discover, foster, and support emerging artists and designers. We will held the solo show of the winner of the 22 Spiral Independent Creators Festival MARKET Grand Prize in Entrance (Spiral 1F).
Keisuke Iwae creates watches, with a screen, without a dial, made of copper or brass or aluminum objects in the shape of used soap. At first glance, the use of these objects is unknown, and question our relation with them and the value we put on things based on their functional aspect. As we use these objects, we realize that the watch questions our relation to time by gradually and naturally changing colors through the contact with the skin and air, as we realize that the soap offers a gentle rest and comfort the hand of the person who holds it. In that regard, both objects inspire the user's heart and are meant to bring bliss to their daily lives. In this exhibition, Iwae's past creations will be reviewed under the theme of usefulness and mindfulness and many pieces, including new works, will be exhibited and sold.
