Fujiwo Ishimoto played an active role for 32 years as a textile designer for Marimekko, a Finnish lifestyle brand which is highly popular in Japan, too, and subsequently since 1989, he has been continuing to make pottery as a member of the art department society of ARABIA, a representative porcelain manufacturer in Finland.
Fujiwo Ishimoto's exhibition, From Marimekko Flowers to Ceramic Fruits, which was held in the Spiral Garden in June, 2019, attracted great attention, and was visited by many people.
At this time, long-awaited Ishimoto's works including his new works arrived at Spiral from Finland. Six colorful flower reliefs, one porcelain tile that strongly reminds you of tranquil scenery, two large platters that would play a major role at a table when you offer hospitality to your guest, "Mikan," small works supervised by Ishimoto, will all be exhibited in MINA-TO on the first floor of Spiral from Monday, March 16, 2020 to Sunday, April 5, 2020.
The works on display at this exhibition are available for purchase through online lottery reservation at Spiral Online Store (store.spiral.co.jp) only, and they will be sold to the winners of the lottery after the end of the exhibition.
* Only "Mikan" will be on sale in a limited quantity at the store of MINA-TO (on the first floor of Spiral).
Also, at this time, as the first trial of this kind, you can view some of the exhibits as an online gallery on this page from March 16. We hope that you enjoy it.
