Shuta Hasunuma and U-zhaan's Spiral live session

On June 20th (sat.) at 19:00〜, Spiral will deliver a live streaming, taken from Spiral Hall, by Shuta Hasunuma and U-zhaan.

Shuta Hasunuma Philarmonic Orchestra produces music for movies or performing art and creates art pieces with the same method as to compose a piece of music. They also develop all kind of creative activities. We hope you enjoy this music that transcend genres such as hip-hop, jazz, and electronics by Shuta Hasunuma together with U-zhaan, a player of traditional Indian percussion instrument called tabla.

For this occasion, will be installed within the 300㎡ of Spiral Hall (Spiral 3F) a special technical set up providing you with a high quality sound and image of the show.

Shuta Hasunuma
Born in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan, Hasunuma is a versatile musician and artist, creating music for films, theatre, dance, and sound work with a focus on environmental and electronic sounds and has played concerts in and outside of Japan with his Shuta Hasunuma Philharmonic Orchestra. He also carried out projects in which he applied the method of composition in other forms of expression, such as sculpture, film, and installation, and presented in exhibitions. His work extends internationally; in 2013, he took part in a residency program in New York, supported by Asian Cultural Council, and was appointed as the Japan Cultural Envoy by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2017. His solo exhibitions include “Compositions” (Pioneer Works, New York, 2018) , “  ~ ing” (Shiseido Gallery, Tokyo, 2018) and “OTHER ‘Someone’s public and private / Something’s public and private’” (void+, Tokyo, 2020). He recently released “ANTHROPOCENE” (2018) and “Oa” (Northern Spy Records, New York, 2019). He received the new face award of Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts in 2018.

U-zhaan
Tabla player. Studied under both globally known tabla players, Anindo Chatterjee and Zakir Hussain. Participated in ASA-CHANG & JUNRAY from 2000 to 2010. In 2011, he released a collaborative album “Kawagoe Rendez-Vous” with rei harakami. In 2014, he released his first solo album “Tabla Rock Mountain” with Cornelius and Ryuichi Sakamoto as featuring guests.
