Human Baltic

2024.5.27 - 6.9

Tokyo, Japan – Explore the everyday lives of the Baltic people at the 'Human Baltic' exhibition, showcasing over 200 striking works from the golden era of Baltic humanist photography between the 1960s and 1990s. Running from May 27th to June 9th, 2024, in Spiral Garden, this collection pulls back the curtain on the daily lives, challenges, and spirit of the Baltic people through a lens that's both raw and revealing.

Showcasing the perspectives of 14 legendary photographers like Kalju Suur, Māra Brašmane or Romualdas Požerskis, exhibition invites into scenes that elevate ordinary moments to something close to art, showcasing the resilience, grace, and complexity of life in times of adversity. "Human Baltic" peels away the usual scenic postcards of the Baltic States to spotlight the real stories of people navigating life during the Soviet era.

The multifaceted exhibition, comprised of over 200 photographed works, dedicated augmented reality app and talk events, the exhibition highlights reveals a shared humanist approach to photography that transcends cultural and geographic boundaries.
