SICF19 EXHIBITION 出展クリエイター150組の中からグランプリに選ばれたアーティスト・石川佳奈による個展を開催しました。

情報技術の発達した現代特有の人々の思考や無意識的な身体行動に焦点をあて、言葉やペインティング、映像、インスタレーションなど、さまざまなメディアや手法で、社会現象に対する、ある種の抵抗から作品を制作する、石川佳奈。SICF19では、全てをインターネットの検索に委ねる私たちの姿を戯画的に描き、観る者全てに批判の矛先が向けられていることを認識させる作品の強さが評価され、グランプリを受賞しました。

本展では、個人間のコミュニケーションにおけるパーソナルエリア（他人に近づかれると不快に感じる物理的・心理的空間）をテーマに、複数の人へのインタビューを通して得られた言葉を石川本人と役者が再解釈して演じる映像を用いたインスタレーションの新作を展示しました。

SICF19 Grand Prize Artist Exhibition Kana Ishikawa “Touching and Being Touched”
This solo exhibition featured the work of the artist Kana Ishikawa, who was selected for the Grand Prize out of the 150 exhibitors at SICF19 EXHIBITION.
In her practice, Ishikawa focuses on idiosyncratically contemporary ways of thinking and unconscious human actions that have developed alongside the emergence of information technology, employing a range of media and means such as language, painting, film/video, and installation to make art that can form a kind of resistance to certain social phenomena. At SICF19, she won the Grand Prize for her work that caricatures how we entrust everything to online searches, creating a powerful piece that makes viewers aware that each and every one of them is the target of its criticism.
For this exhibition, she presented a new installation that used video footage of the artist and an actor reinterpreting words acquired through interviews with various people on the theme of personal space (that is, the physical and psychological distance around a person that they consider somehow “theirs”) in individual communication.
